Description

Waterstop Bentonite

Bentonite Waterstop is based on active sodium bentonite in the matrix of butyl rubber with high elasticity and is specially designed to prevent the leakage of executive seams and water infiltration and the interruptions of concreting. When bentonite waterstop comes in contact with water, it expands and prevents water from passing through the concrete joints.

properties and effects

  • The ability to fill concrete seams and holes
  • Permanent and flawless performance
  • High malleability and relatively free

Application

  • Sealing of executive seams of horizontal and vertical surfaces
  • Sealing uneven surfaces or possible cold joints
  • Sealing of shear concrete sections and bearing walls

Product Description – Bentonite Waterstop

An efficient product based on active sodium bentonite in a butyl rubber matrix with very high elasticity, which is specifically designed to prevent water penetration and eliminate leaks in construction joints and concrete cut-off sections. Bentonite waterstop expands when in contact with water and will prevent water from passing through concrete joints. This waterstop is attached to the section with glue or nails and the next section is concreted. Other uses of bentonite waterstop include replacing places where PVC waterstop is not installed in concrete cut-off sections. Of course, this waterstop can only be used in construction joints and is not suitable for use in expansion and contraction joints.

»»» What is bentonite waterstop?

Bentonite Waterstop is a sealing tape. It is primarily used to seal horizontal or vertical underground cold joints in concrete structures, whether exposed to hydrostatic or non-hydrostatic conditions. Essentially, it acts as a barrier to prevent water from penetrating through construction joints in the concrete. When water comes into contact with the sodium bentonite, it swells and creates an impermeable seal.

Maintaining Bentonite Waterstop

What is the correct way to maintain bentonite waterstop?

Shelf life: Two years in original packaging.

Storage conditions: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Best storage temperature: +10 to +30 degrees Celsius

How to use bentonite waterstop

What are the instructions for using Waterstop Bentonite?

  • Before application, all surfaces to be worked on must be dry, clean, and free of any contamination, dust, loose parts, grease, etc.
  • Use a special adhesive to attach bentonite flex to concrete.
  • In vertical or ceiling joints, it is okay to use a steel nail to ensure that the tape does not break away from the concrete.
  • Simply press the two joined edges together firmly and secure.
  • This way, there is no need to overlap.

Special properties of bentonite waterstop

What are the properties and effects of bentonite waterstop?

  • Cold seam sealing to protect amateurs
  • Non-toxic and can be used in water
  • Can fill concrete joints and holes
  • Permanent and flawless performance
  • Possibility of performing in amateur sections
  • Possibility of application on uneven concrete surfaces
  • Resistant to moisture, humidity and continuous drying
  • Possibility of further delay in the inflator system
  • No need for overlapping or welding during installation
  • High flexibility and relatively free
  • Retains its original shape against water pressure

Application of bentonite waterstop

What are the uses of bentonite waterstop?

  • Sealing of construction joints on horizontal and vertical surfaces
  • Sealing of shear concrete sections and load-bearing walls
  • Waterproofing of dams, tunnels, pools and water channels
  • Sealing uneven surfaces or possible cold joints
  • Sealing of water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Sealing of all types of construction joints and concreting sections
  • Waterproofing of buried and semi-buried foundations and structures
  • Sealing around pipes and replacing sealing flanges

Safety related to bentonite waterstop

What are the essential tips when using bentonite waterstop?

  • The section where the bentonite waterstop is installed should not be immersed in water before concreting.
  • It is mandatory to apply at least 50 mm of concrete coating over Benton Flex.
  • If, for any reason, concreting is carried out at a time interval from the installation of the bentonite waterstop, the surface must be covered with an appropriate coating.
  • It is best to have the entire section dry when installing and placing the bentonite waterstop.
  • Benton Flex tape can be used in water pressures up to 12 meters deep.
  • Benton Flex is not suitable for sealing joints in precast concrete components.
  • Benton Flex strips may not expand sufficiently when in contact with salt-containing waters.
  • Protect from extreme humidity and direct rain during installation and before concreting.
  • The concreting time should be short compared to the waterstop installation time.
