Product Description – Quick-setting powder shotcrete
Powdered shotcrete quick-setting admixture is an additive that accelerates the instant setting of concrete and allows it to reach the desired stability in the shortest possible time. The presence of calcium and magnesium, as well as materials that play the role of adjusting the pH in this product, causes rapid setting of cement. This additive is used for the rapid setting of shotcrete (shotcrete) and also for the implementation of a strong and resistant concrete layer using the shotcrete method. When applying dry shotcrete, the quick-setting shotcrete powder is sprayed onto the surface of the concrete with compressed air under pressure. The quick-setting shotcrete powder accelerates the initiation and growth of the hydration rate, and as a result, the initial and final setting of the concrete is carried out in a shorter time and the concrete reaches the expected hardness sooner. Also, the use of shotcrete quick-setting concrete, due to the absence of chloride, does not cause any corrosion to metals.
The rapid release of shotcrete powder using accelerators in shotcrete applications refers to. Shotcrete concrete accelerators help speed up the setting time of shotcrete, allowing for rapid development in mining and construction projects. These accelerators, by reinforcing structures with shotcrete, provide high early strength, increase cycle time, and improve handling during use, as well as early strength development, which is critical for structural stability. If used properly, they do not compromise the long-term durability of the concrete.

Consumption rate of quick-setting powder shotcrete
The exact amount of quick-setting powder shotcrete to be used is determined based on the speed of concrete construction, the time required for concrete spraying, the setting speed, the moisture content of the cross-section, the ambient temperature conditions, the type of cement used, and the water-to-cement ratio, and by conducting precise workshop tests. To determine the exact amount of this chemical concrete additive to be used, test mixtures should be made at the project site, taking into account the stated conditions. Generally, the amount of use is 2 to 7 percent of the weight of the cement used.
Maintenance of quick-setting powder shotcrete
Duration: One year in original packaging.
Conditions: Away from cold and frost, heat and direct and prolonged sunlight.
Best storage temperature: +10 to +30 degrees
Method of using quick-setting powdered shotcrete
1 – If wet sand is used in the mixing plan, this product should not be added to the dry materials. In this case, you should add the quick-setting shotcrete powder to the mixture just before mixing with water.
2 – Powdered shotcrete quick-setting agent must be added to dry materials and when it leaves the spraying machine, it mixes with water and begins to react.

Mechanism of the rapid setting effect of powdered shotcrete
The mechanism of action of the quick-setting powder shotcrete admixture depends on various factors such as the amount used, the type of mixing of the components, the temperature of the concreting environment, the temperature of the concrete, the type of cement, the water-to-cement ratio, and the conditions of concrete placement.
As is evident, cement begins to harden and gain strength when it comes into contact with water by performing hydration operations. Naturally, this process begins with the dissolution of cement in water and after a dormant period and the formation of CSH gel, it reaches its completion in terms of setting. After this stage, hydration is formed and, in other words, concrete hardens. The quick-setting additive of powdered shotcrete reduces these stages and speeds up the setting time.
Note that the shotcrete concrete’s quick-setting effect will be greatest when the ratio of C3A to SO3 is greater than 4.
Safety of quick-setting powder shotcrete
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, it should be washed with plenty of water.
- If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
