Product Description – Powdered Concrete Paint

The use of mineral powder colors such as ochre and mung bean has been used for years to color cement mortars. These materials, when combined with concrete mixing materials, color the concrete paste. Mineral powder colors do not have proper coloring and to achieve the desired shade, a larger amount of mineral pigment must be mixed with concrete, which reduces the strength of concrete. With the advancement of technology in the field of construction and industrial paint production, powerful pigments based on iron oxide and titanium oxide have been formulated and produced, which have a much lower consumption rate in mortar compared to mineral colors and have a wider color spectrum than mineral powder colors. This moisture insulator that can create various patterns and colors in cement mortar and concrete and even plaster. These materials do not have a negative effect on the quality of concrete and create a better beauty and perspective in concrete, and due to the variety of colors, they create the possibility of more creativity and innovation in the concrete industry. These colors are poured into the concrete mortar and are used together with the concrete construction. One of the special advantages of coloring concrete with the help of powdered pigment is that the concrete is colored and the concrete is colored permanently and there is no possibility of peeling or peeling of the color from the concrete surface. Also, in terms of economy and speed of implementation, powdered concrete color is better than liquid concrete color, because it is added at the time of mixing the concrete and there is no need for scaffolding or surface preparation for repainting the surface. Also, using this product provides good durability against atmospheric factors and does not cause color change.

Generally, this product is known as a dry pigment, and is used to add color to various cement-based materials. As mentioned above, this product is a dry powder that contains iron oxide pigments and is added to materials such as concrete, plaster, mortar, grout, etc. After mixing, the pigment is evenly distributed throughout the mixture, creating a consistent color. The point is that when using concrete powder paint, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety measures.

The presented product or concrete color powder is a product that is used to color and create color effects in concrete. This product is created from a combination of minerals and resistant pigments and is added to concrete to achieve the desired color during mixing or after concrete is applied. This type of color is very resistant to environmental factors such as sunlight, rain, and temperature changes. For this reason, it is very suitable for use in open spaces.

Consumption of powdered concrete paint

The amount of concrete pigment used varies in different conditions and according to the materials and type of cement used.

Consumption in white cement:

The amount of color pigment used in white cement is 1 to 3 percent of the weight of cement used.

Consumption rate in gray cement:

The amount of color pigment used in gray Portland or pozzolanic cement is 3 to 5 percent of the weight of the cement used.

Consumption in plaster:

The amount of color pigment used in plaster is 1 to 3 percent of the weight of plaster.

Note: According to the American ASTM concrete standard, the amount of powdered concrete color used in a concrete mix design can be up to 10% by weight of the cement used, and using more than the allowed limit reduces the compressive strength and some properties of the concrete.

Storage conditions for powdered concrete paint

Duration: One year in original packaging.

Conditions: Away from cold and frost, heat and direct and prolonged sunlight.

Best storage temperature: +10 to +30 degrees

How to use powdered concrete paint

  • This product should be added to the mixture after all concrete mixing components have been combined and continue mixing until a uniform mixture with a uniform color is obtained.
  • Note that concrete color pigment should be added to the concrete mix after any possible addition of concrete admixtures.
  • For every cubic meter of concrete, mixing should take at least one minute.

Safety conditions for powdered concrete paint

  • This material is not toxic or hazardous to the environment.
  • It should not be swallowed or come into contact with the eyes under any circumstances.
  • Wear a mask, gloves, and safety glasses when working.
  • In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with plenty of fresh water.

Mechanism of action of powdered concrete color

Concrete color pigment, or concrete powder color, is produced in two bases: mineral and organic pigments and is added to the mortar based on the type and amount of cement used, and by affecting the mixing plan, it colors the concrete. Coloring concrete in this way is permanent and there is no possibility of the color fading from the concrete over time.
