Product Description – Concrete Spacer
This spacer is also known as a cement spacer.
Creating a concrete cover on the rebar is essential and inevitable, and failure to observe the distance on the rebars, depending on the conditions of the structure and the ambient climate, will have a direct impact on the life of the concrete structure. To provide the exact distance on the rebars, plastic and concrete spacers are used, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages over the other. Considering the needs of the market and considering some of the advantages of concrete spacers over plastic spacers, Beton Plast Chemical Company has started producing various types of concrete rebar spacers in different sizes and models to meet the needs of the respected contractors in this field.
Cement spacers are designed to create and maintain a specific concrete cover over the reinforcing bars (rebars). These products are able to ensure that the rebar is placed at the correct distance from the edge of the concrete structure. This concrete cover is essential to protect the rebars from corrosion, fire and other potential threats. Cement spacers are offered in various shapes and sizes of spacers, which provides flexibility in choosing the right product according to the needs of the construction project. Concrete spacers play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and durability of the structures by ensuring the proper concrete cover over the rebars. Ultimately, these products contribute to the overall safety and longevity of the building.

Concrete spacer consumption
How many concrete spacers can be used?
The amount of cement spacers used is determined by the weight of the structure and its location, and is generally as follows.
Amount of cement spacer used on horizontal surfaces:
On horizontal surfaces, at least 2 concrete spacers are used, depending on the weight of the structure or its location.
Amount of cement spacer used on vertical surfaces:
On vertical surfaces, depending on the type of formwork and the force exerted by the formwork on the spacer, 2 cement spacers per square meter are recommended on each side of the wall.
How to use concrete spacers
How can concrete spacers be used?
Horizontal surfaces:
During reinforcement, appropriate spacers are selected and placed under the spacers based on the required concrete coverage. If structural vibrations are severe during reinforcement or concreting, it is necessary to install and stabilize the cement spacers with wire tied to the reinforcements.
Vertical surfaces:
On vertical surfaces, after selecting the appropriate spacer, it is necessary to first tie the spacer to the reinforcement using wire through the holes embedded in the concrete spacers, and then form and pour concrete.
Application of concrete spacers
What are the uses of concrete spacers?
- Suitable for use on all horizontal and vertical surfaces.
- Suitable for use in creating concrete covers on high-density rebar networks.
- Suitable for use in the production of prefabricated parts and walls where traces of spacers should not be visible on the surface and an exposed surface is required.
- Suitable for use in acidic environments and for reinforcing water and sewage networks.
- Suitable for use on bridge decks and tunnel walls
Note: Use in foundations and heavy floors where the use of plastic spacers is not possible.
Concrete spacer maintenance
How to maintain concrete spacers?
Duration: Five years in original packaging.
Conditions: Away from cold and frost, heat and direct and prolonged sunlight.
Best storage temperature: +10 to +30 degrees
Storage: Do not stack more than 8 rows of cement spacer cartons on top of each other.
Benefits of concrete spacers
What are the advantages of concrete spacers?
- Better adhesion to concrete due to being homogeneous with concrete
- Safer transfer of static loads to concrete
- Very high physical and chemical resistance
- No deformation in various temperature fluctuations
- Higher point load capacity than plastic spacers
- Possibility of connecting with wire to the rebar structure
- Use in fewer numbers per square meter than spacers in equal structural conditions
- Better stability under the rebar than plastic spacers against structural vibrations during reinforcement and concreting
- Concrete spacers have higher resistance to fire and high heat than plastic spacers.
- Greater thermal compatibility with concrete to withstand various freeze-thaw cycles
- No spacer marks visible on the concrete surface after opening the molds.
- In heavy floor structures, using concrete spacers has an economic advantage over plastic spacers.
- In extreme weather conditions, the use of concrete spacers is preferable to concrete spacers because they will not be crushed by heat.
Disadvantages of concrete spacers over plastic spacers
What are the disadvantages of cement spacers?
- Lack of locking prongs to fix and maintain the rebar (It should be noted that the concrete spacers produced by Beton Plast Chemical Company have holes built in so that the rebar structure can be installed and fixed on the concrete spacer with wire, which requires additional time and expense.
- Lower installation and placement speed compared to plastic spacers
- Higher shipping and handling costs compared to plastic spacers
- Requires more storage space than plastic spacers (cartons containing concrete spacers can be stacked up to 8 rows)
- Creating poor permeability and corrosion transfer at the spacer placement point, especially in structures that require sealing.
- On vertical surfaces, wire must be used to place concrete spacers on the rebar, but plastic spacers are easily installed on the rebar structure due to their locking prongs.
- Due to their low weight, rebar structures with small diameter reinforcement have weaker static stability on concrete spacers than plastic spacers, and in this case, wire must be used.
- In lightweight structures, using cement spacers is economically more expensive than plastic spacers.
