Product Description – Epoxy Grout (3-Component)

The use of ordinary mortars and concretes for the installation and fixation of industrial machinery and large engineering equipment is not suitable. For the installation and fixation of heavy structures, parameters such as compressive, flexural and tensile strength are very suitable. Because these types of structures impose large compressive forces on the supports, in terms of compression, tension and flexural. These parameters are abundantly observed during the installation and fixation of mobile equipment and machinery with severe dynamic vibration (such as impact presses, guillotines, etc.). Therefore, ordinary mortars are not able to withstand such forces and it is necessary to use epoxy grout mortar for such structures. Epoxy grout is a 3-component mortar without fluidity, which is suitable for working on horizontal and vertical surfaces and overhead and is widely used for the installation and fixation of industrial equipment and heavy machinery. High-strength grout is also used as a durable mortar against acids and chemicals. In addition to its high mechanical resistance, it is also chemically resistant to many substances such as oil, grease, petroleum, salts, acids, alkalis and many corrosive substances. Epoxy grout mortar has no shrinkage and has very good adhesion to concrete. Also, using epoxy resin-based grout mortar is very suitable for installing and stabilizing crushers and stone cutting machines. Grout mortar is actually a ready-made mortar and there is no need to mix different components to make the mortar, and its base is epoxy resin and acts as an adhesive. Epoxy 3-component mortar is considered a material that can be very effective in increasing the speed of work. Choosing the right grout and its method of application also depends on different environmental conditions and various requirements, including its stability and durability.

High-strength grout is used to fill and reinforce areas that need to withstand heavy loads. As the name suggests, this type of grout consists of three main components that must be mixed together before use and application. This grout has numerous features and applications, is long-lasting, and is highly resistant to abrasion and impact. It is also a safe and suitable choice for industrial and construction applications that require high strength and durability due to its excellent properties.

Video on how to apply epoxy grout

  • Surface Preparation
: Before starting the process, make sure the surface is completely clean and dry. You can use alcohol or a suitable detergent to do this, and then dry the surface thoroughly.
  • Mixing the materials:
Combine the two main components of epoxy and pigment according to the proportions specified in the manufacturer’s instructions to achieve a uniform and homogeneous mixture.
  • Applying Grout:
Using a suitable tool such as a spatula, apply the grout evenly to the desired surface. Make sure that the thickness of the grout is sufficient for optimal performance.
  • Filling Holes
If there are holes or gaps in the surface you are applying grout to, you can fill them in. Use a needle or similar tool to carefully fill the areas.
  • Drying Time
After applying the grout, allow it to dry for a few hours to a few days. Drying time may vary depending on the type of epoxy grout and environmental conditions.
  •  Final Cleanup
: Once completely dry, use a sharp, flat tool to remove any excess grout from the surface for a neat, clean look.

How to apply epoxy grout

Epoxy grout packaging (3 components)

What is the packaging of Proto Epoxy (3-component)?

10 kg set

Epoxy grout maintenance (3 parts)

What are the maintenance principles for 3-component epoxy grout?

Duration: One year in original packaging.

Conditions: Away from cold and frost, heat and direct and prolonged sunlight.

Best storage temperature: +10 to +30 degrees

Consumption of epoxy grout (3 components)

What is the consumption rate of epoxy grout (3 components)?

Rebar planting:

By subtracting the volume of the rebar to be installed from the volume of the hole drilled for this purpose, the volume of the grouting area is obtained, and by multiplying this value by the specific gravity, the consumption rate can be calculated.

Grouting under base plates:

For grouting, the amount can be calculated by measuring the volume of the desired cross-section and knowing the specific gravity of the epoxy grout.

How to use epoxy grout (3 parts)

What is the correct way to use epoxy grout (3-component)?

  • All surfaces intended for applying epoxy grout must be free of any contamination, grease, paint, etc.
  • Metal surfaces in contact with epoxy grout should be degreased.
  • If there are loose spots on the section, they should be fixed mechanically.
  • Note that the surfaces on which epoxy grout is to be applied must have reached a final setting of 28 days.
  • The surface under the work must be dry and free of moisture (the moisture content in the concrete must also be less than 6%).

Important points

  • In the case of open spaces, outside of daylight hours, surface preparation should not be carried out.
  • Surface preparation should not be carried out at temperatures below 5°C and below 3°C above dew point.
  • Preparation should not be carried out in conditions with a relative humidity greater than 75%.

How to use epoxy grout:

  • Mix the two liquid components (resin and hardener) using an electric mixer (drill + blade) for at least 1 minute.
  • Add the powdered component slowly (over a period of about one minute) to the liquid solution and mix simultaneously with an electric mixer until a homogeneous and uniform mixture is obtained.
  • Pour the epoxy grout mixture at the appropriate height and continuously from one side. If the cross-section is large and long, slightly increase the pouring height to increase the pouring pressure and make it easier for the grout to fill the far corners.

Important points

  • Epoxy grout should be applied within 15 minutes of mixing.
  • Continuously mix the epoxy grout components in the specified ratio (according to the packaging).
  • Note that in hot weather conditions, the temperature of the mixing components should be maintained between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius before mixing.
  • Always mix an amount of epoxy grout components that will be used in the first few minutes.
  • Never add solvents or other additives to the epoxy grout mix components for dilution.

Mechanism of action of epoxy grout (3-component)

What is the mechanism of action of epoxy grout (3 components)?

Epoxy technology is actually a thermosetting copolymer, or so-called heat-hardening, made from two components: epoxy resin and epoxy hardener (hardener or activator). Epoxy resin is made from short-chain polymers with an epoxide group at the end, which react after mixing with the hardener over a certain time and dry when the bond is complete. These (epoxy resin and epoxy hardener) begin to react quickly after being added to the cement matrix, providing much higher raw strength and adhesion than normal conditions. Also, due to the absence of water or any solvent in the epoxy grout components, there will be no shrinkage or shrinkage at the moment and after setting and hardening.

Epoxy grout safety (3-component)

What are the safety conditions when using epoxy grout (3-part)?

  • This material should never come into contact with the eyes.
  • Epoxy grout is not a toxic or environmentally hazardous material.
  • This substance should never be eaten.
  • Avoid direct breathing when mixing grout.
  • In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with fresh water.

Price for applying three-component epoxy grout

The price of applying three-component epoxy grout depends on various factors, and therefore, the cost per square meter of this type of grout will vary. Factors such as the type of grout application, the quality of the raw materials, and the dimensions of the project can have a large impact on the final cost.

To estimate the total cost of the project, you first need to estimate the amount of grout you will need. To do this, measure the dimensions of the area you plan to grout; these dimensions include the length, width, and height. Once you have determined the volume of grout you will need, you can calculate the cost per square meter based on the type of grout you have chosen.
