Product Description – Power Gel Microsilica Delayed
Power Gel Microsilica Delayed Set is a powerful and modern additive that is the most developed and powerful product among super-pozzolanic microsilica products. It is formulated and produced with a main base of polycarboxylic ether and silica fume as the main elements and other additives such as fillers, sealants, slow-setting materials, and polypropylene fibers, which has a lower consumption rate and a more severe reduction than other microsilica products. By adding this fluid, the slump and rheological properties of concrete in the paste state will be improved, and finally, the concrete will have more desirable mechanical and electrical properties after hardening. The higher fluidity of Power Gel Microsilica Delayed Set causes better circulation of silica fume, catalysts, and water repellents in the product in the concrete paste, and ultimately it will create a homogeneous and better paste texture that will have high density and cohesion after hardening and will be impermeable. In addition to creating the aforementioned properties during the hydration process, this material can be controlled in terms of setting due to the presence of setting inhibitors in the product structure, and therefore is a suitable option for large-scale concreting and concreting in tropical regions. The use of this product also has the ability to reduce the water-to-cement ratio by up to 25 percent.
Power Gel Microsilica retarder is suitable for concreting with high pressure reinforcement and is also very suitable for high volume concrete. Power Gel retarder increases the workability of concrete and is durable against destructive chemical ions and is suitable for concreting in hot climates and tropical areas. It is also an ideal additive for strong and durable concrete, whether reinforced or unreinforced.
How to use Power Gel Microsilica Retardant
Delayed setting microsilica power gel can be added to concrete in two ways:
- Combine this product with all or part of the concrete mixing water and then add to the dry materials and mix.
- Delayed setting microsilica power gel can be added to the mixing plan after all the concrete mix components have been added.
Note: It should be noted that mixing operation must take at least 1 minute for each cubic meter of concrete.
Note: Using more than the permitted amount of this material can delay the setting of concrete beyond the permitted amount and seriously weaken the final properties of the concrete.
Consumption of delay-retarding microsilica power gel
The amount of use of Power Gel Microsilica Delayed Set is determined by conducting detailed laboratory studies, but the amount of use of Power Gel Microsilica Delayed Set is usually 1 to 3 percent of the weight of the cement used. Note that to achieve high compressive strength and achieve strong concrete, you must reduce the mixing water by 20 to 25 percent before adding this material. The amount of cement used in the concrete mixture can be reduced by the amount of Power Gel Microsilica Delayed Set additive added.
Note: It is recommended that in cases where the time interval between construction and concreting is long, this material be used in two stages (one part in batching and the next part added to the truck mixer 5 minutes before pouring concrete). After adding, stir the mixture for about 2 to 4 minutes.

Mechanism of action of delayed release microsilica power gel
The silica fume in the formulation of the delayed-setting microsilica power gel is a powerful pozzolanic material that can be a good substitute for cement and has a function similar to cement. After mixing, silica fume reacts with water and calcium hydroxide, thereby producing hard calcium silicate, which has a significant effect on hardening concrete and increasing its strength. In addition, the polycarboxylate ether in the delayed-setting microsilica power gel formulation, which plays the role of a lubricant, creates a membrane on the cement particles and, by creating a spatial barrier due to the thickness of the absorbed layer, prevents the cement particles from accumulating together and creates a repulsive force between the particles due to the absorption of polymer particles and the formation of homonymous charges, thus making the concrete fluid. The polypropylene fibers in the structure of this material, in turn, will develop the mechanical and abrasion properties of concrete. Retarding materials also make it possible to delay the initial setting and control the setting in hot weather conditions.
